Voice of Ommah
Child Protection Policy

Keeping Children Safe Is Our Highest Responsibility

This policy sets out how Voice of Ommah Quran Academy protects children during online lessons, what standards our teachers are held to, and how parents can report concerns.

Last reviewed: July 2026

Safety Is Non-Negotiable

Every decision we make — about teachers, technology, and processes — is evaluated against child safety first.

Full Transparency

Parents are welcome to observe any lesson at any time without prior notice. Nothing in our classrooms is hidden.

Verified Teachers Only

No teacher may conduct a lesson before their background check, credentials, and safeguarding training are confirmed.

Clear Reporting

Any concern — however small — can be reported to our safeguarding lead. All reports are taken seriously.

1. Scope and Purpose

This policy applies to all teachers, staff, and contractors working with Voice of Ommah Quran Academy who interact with students under the age of 18. It covers online lessons conducted through our digital classroom platform.

Our purpose is to create a safe, respectful, and structured learning environment where children can learn the Quran without any risk of harm, exploitation, or inappropriate conduct.

2. Teacher Requirements

Every teacher who works with children at Voice of Ommah must:

Hold a valid DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check or equivalent in their country of residence
Complete safeguarding awareness training before their first lesson
Sign our Code of Professional Conduct, which explicitly prohibits any inappropriate communication
Have their Ijazah and educational credentials verified by our academic team
Be reviewed regularly through parent feedback and lesson monitoring

3. Lesson Conduct Standards

All lessons must be conducted in accordance with the following standards:

Sessions must take place through our monitored online classroom platform only — no personal video call platforms
Teachers must not contact students or parents through personal social media, email, or messaging apps
All communication must occur through the academy's official channels
Teachers must not conduct a session if they are in a private space — lessons should be in a visible room if observed
Teachers must immediately end and report any session in which a student discloses harm or distress

4. Parent Rights and Involvement

Parents and guardians have the right to:

Observe any lesson, at any time, without prior notice
Request a change of teacher without providing a reason
Review their child's lesson recordings upon request (where available)
Contact our safeguarding lead at any time with any concern
Withdraw from the programme at any time

We actively encourage parents to be present during lessons, particularly for younger children. A parent or guardian does not need to be in the same room but should be in the home and contactable during the session.

5. Platform Safety

All lessons are conducted through a purpose-built digital classroom that is separate from general-purpose video call platforms. Our platform does not allow file sharing outside of pre-approved lesson materials, and all sessions are logged.

Teacher access is restricted to their scheduled lessons. Teachers cannot view student personal data beyond what is necessary for lesson delivery.

6. Reporting a Concern

If you have any concern — however small — please report it immediately. We treat every report as serious and will respond within 24 hours.

7. Policy Review

This policy is reviewed annually and updated as required by changes in best practice or legislation. Parents are notified of significant updates. The current version was last reviewed in July 2026.
